Statement by Michael Allegretti Regarding Rep. Rangel's Ethics Charges
Michael Allegretti Calls On Rep. McMahon to Return Rangel's "Dirty" Donations
Statement from Michael Allegretti, Republican candidate for Congress in the 13th District of New York:
"Today, a House of Representatives ethics committee brought charges against Rep. Charlie Rangel, confirming what we in Staten Island and Brooklyn have known for years: That Congressman Rangel cares more about using and abusing his position for power than he cares for his constituents. As a result of today's actions, I call on my Democratic opponent, Rep. Michael McMahon, to return all of the campaign money he's received from Congressman Rangel during his time in office. This isn't a political stunt--as McMahon claims every time he gets called out--but a justifiable request that is in keeping with the values by which his constituents in Staten Island and southern Brooklyn try to live. Mr. McMahon once campaigned on providing the "change we deserve" in this district. If he's saying his constituents deserve a guy who plays the game for the sake of his own political survival, that's like a slap across the face of every person who has ever voted for him. Come on, Congressman, do the right thing."
About Michael: Michael Allegretti is a life-long resident of New York's Thirteenth Congressional District, co-owner of a small business and an active member of the community. He is the endorsed candidate of the Staten Island and Brooklyn Republican parties, as well as NYS Senators Andrew Lanza and Martin Golden, and NYS Assemblyman Lou Tobacco.
